Which is it Heroes or Villains???

Buccaneers are kind like heroes because they are getting revenge on the Spaniards for getting them removed off their island so it seems like the Spaniards are the villains right now. The Island of Hispaniola is the land where the buccaneers are from.

They were originally hunters who lived on the island but that was until the Spaniards came. In the book Buccaneers and pirates it was said that the Spaniards were trading with certain countries or so.

The buccaneers kept interfering with them and the Spaniards did not like that one bit. So the Spaniards went ahead and wages war on the buccaneers. Sooner or later the Spaniards got the buccaneers off the island of Hispaniola. Which made the Buccaneers furious but the buccaneers ended up getting along together and went ahead to travel on the seas and get their revenge on the Spaniards for making them leave their home land.

The buccaneers adopted a name and it was called “The Brethren of the Coast” or what the Spanish will call them pirates, sea robbers, and buccaneers. The Buccaneers were like brothers when it came to riding the seas and fighting against Spaniards and what is right. Did you know that before they became Buccaneers some of them opened up schools in the Caribbean sea. It was very interesting that some of the Buccaneers actually did that before becoming sea pirates.

A well known Buccaneer that most people have heard of because he is one of the most famous Buccaneer is Sir Henry Morgan. Henry Morgan perfected a type of raid and his attack on Porto Bello in 1668 was a classic example of how the buccaneers accomplished the certain type of attack or raid. Majority of times what buccaneers always do was sail on the seas to the west indies to get golds and hides and to fight Spaniards.

The Plank!!

ARRRRRRRRR!!! Now that was a myth most people thought pirates say this but that was not true not all pirates would say that. There were some pirates that were educated in some way like for example Stede Bonnet. He was known as the Gentleman Pirate because of his background he was a moderately wealthy man who turned his life into being a pirate. Stede Bonnet soon in his life as a pirate ended up being partners with BlackBeard. BlackBeard saw how well mannered this pirate was and liked him and wanted to be his partner even though Bonnet has no sea experience since he has never traveled on sea as much he was only used for his learning that was pretty much it. That is why Blackbeard liked him was for his brain.

That was well interesting myth that was said in the reading because not a lot of people would believe that there was some smart pirates because they just do and do not think whats so ever. Another myth that was told about was that pirates usually had parrots and they did have parrots but it was never told on how they got their parrots.

It was said in the reading that most pirates got their parrots by seamen at markets and it was not only parrots it was also other types of exotic birds that were unknown. A myth that was founded in the reading was that pirates valued the work of slaves. In most things people seen or heard nobody would have expected that pirates valued the work of slaves. Most people would think that pirates would have new recruits do the work or they just do it themselves or they just do not do it. Pirates either valued slaves for their work on the ship or to be sold at markets.

Le Myths about Le pirates

There are a lot of things people might have portray pirates like in films or just in some shows. They portrayed the pirates as guys who bury their treasure to hide from others, they have a pirate slang like saying "ARRRRRRR" or "Mateys" and made their victims walked the plank. Some films such as pirates of the caribbean or Peter pan or the goonies.

The goonies portray it a little bit by showing a group of kids finding a treasure map that was hidden by a pirate and they went ahead to find the treasure. Peter pan as well with Captain Hook the villain of the film and he always says to some kids or peter pan that he will make them walk the plank.

Those are myths of pirates because pirates do not really say arrrrrrr or matey. There are some pirates like british pirates who talk in a different way than this. The myth of pirates buried treasure is not true either. The Pirates knew they were not going to live long due to what they were doing so when ever they got treasure they always spend all of the treasure either on liquor or females. The last myth was that pirates make their victims walk the plank. This is also not true because there is not a lot of evidence that pirates made their victims walk the plank. Instead what pirates did to their victims was Knee Hauling which was when they tie the victim to a rope and dragging them under the ship. That will either give the victims horrible injuries or may just drown them because they are under water. These are some myths that films have showed about pirates and these myths were not true at all whats so ever because they do not know that much about pirates.
